New to this forum, new to the XT500 but have always loved the look and idea of a big single. Bought my first one, a so-called partial restoration, last month. Since then I seem to have spent most of my spare time in the garage replacing worn / missing parts, which with a few notable exceptions are amazingly easy to obtain from KEDO, CMSL, Yambits, Wemoto etc. Certainly a different proposition to the last bike I put together, a Bonneville 750, and a million miles away in its core philosophy from my road bike, a CB1300. Looking forward to getting the XT back to a running condition. Hope to add to my knowledge of the XT through this forum.

Been a biker since I was 12, when me and a couple of mates acquired a ropey old AJS 500 single for riding in a local farmer’s field. Had a few since. Now have a CB1300 road bike, but just parted with cash for a ’78 XT in a partially restored (well, thats what he told me….) state. Now working through the perished grommets and missing parts to bring it back to life. KEDO now send me sweets in my shipments as they rate me as a valued and regular customer. Happy days.

Get yourself over to Hay-on-Wye [details on here], there will be plenty of owners with years of experience of refurbing/rebuilding etc.etc. happy to help and…..theres usually one or two bits and pieces to buy and sometimes complete bikes.
